Important Vehicle Specific Notes and Recommendations

Jeep JK and JK Unlimited Wranglers are exceptional off-road platforms and are commonly built up in many different ways from light weight rock crawlers to heavy overlanders. This is why Filthy Motorsports treats all orders as custom. Not only do we make sure your shocks are the correct length and tuned correctly, we also review your entire suspension system to ensure it is set up correctly for your application. Here are a few factors we always take into consideration:

1. Not all lift kits measure out to their advertised lift heights. When selecting shocks for your JK, we primarily focus of full compression measurements and try to fit the largest shocks we can that don't interfere with up-travel. This may require different shocks front and rear. For example, it is common to need 3-5" lift shocks up front and 6" lift shocks in the rear.

2. Tire size, fenders, and bump stops all need to be addressed to make sure maximum up-travel is preserved. In other words, do your bump stops contact your axles at the proper position to allow maximum travel without the risk of unwanted component contact? If not, adjustments will need to be made and we will provide those recommendations.

3. Ride height is critical on Jeep Wranglers. For most applications, we want to see a minimum of 4" of available, usable up-travel to allow for the suspension to dampen the energy within enough space such that the shocks don't need to be valved excessively firm and to allow an ideal balance of ride quality and performance. For extreme rock crawling, slightly lower ride heights (lower center of gravity) are possible but hydraulic bumps stops become mandatory for good results.

4. Springs rates are the trickiest part of any Jeep build, the springs need to be tall enough to support the vehicle at the desired ride height, soft enough to allow the suspension to flex and articulate properly, and the rear springs need to be strong enough to support any required load or cargo. While Filthy Motorsports does not sell JK springs, we are happy to provide recommendations.

Received my Kings yesterday and finally got those Rough Country N3 off! Wow what a difference! I really didn’t think about shocks not working together but I can definitely feel the difference  in having Kings on all four corners!
